This book was confusing! I generally give all my books a standard 100 pages to impress me, and this one barely made it. Everything is grandiose outrageous, and weird. I have a friend who is a professor of Latin American Literature, so I asked him--do I just not get it? He says it's supposed to be that way. This book is supposed to be a classic, but in my opinion it's not really worth the read. Unless you're into crazy things happening to crazy people in a small town in South America.
